The Evolution of PAS 2035

The next iteration of the UK government’s retrofit standard comes into force at the end of March 2025. There are plenty of changes to be aware of, and it impacts all the key roles like Retrofit Assessor, Retrofit Coordinator and Retrofit Designer. Technical guidance has been updated, airtightness strategies are now included, and some compliance documents have become mandatory for all projects.

Due to a change in the qualification requirements, some Retrofit Coordinators may not be able to undertake the responsibilities they have been doing previously. The role of qualified, professional designers becomes more important, as do mandatory site visits for some installations. This takes some retrofit roles from merely desk-based compliance positions to those that require greater construction experience and how to deal with installers.
